Compact hatchbacks like the 2017 Honda Fit and the 2017 Toyota Yaris have a lot to offer drivers in central Georgia. These affordable cars make great daily drivers, and they offer lots of carrying capacity in a smaller package. But as this head-to-head comparison reveals, the Honda Fit offers more of what drivers really crave. When you’re ready for a closer look, head from Milledgeville to check out the latest Fit in person at Butler Honda.

The 2017 Honda Fit offers a lot more zip than the Yaris. Plus, it uses less gas in the process, making this a great car to rely on for all your travel. Under the hood is a 1.5L four-cylinder engine that puts out 130 hp and 114 lb-ft of torque. You can expect to go 0-60 in a quick 8.3 seconds and achieve fuel-efficiency ratings as high as 33 mpg city and 40 mpg highway from LX CVT models.

The Yaris is also powered by a 1.5L four-cylinder, but it can only produce 106 hp and 103 lb-ft of torque and takes up to 9.5 seconds to go 0-60 mph. Despite its weaker character, fuel-efficiency ratings do not top 30 mpg city or 37 mpg highway.

Cargo Capacity

Having plenty of room for bulky items and big loads is a major part of the appeal of a hatchback. The 2017 Honda Fit gives you more room to work with and more options for configuration:

  • Fit: There is 16.6 cubic feet of dedicated cargo space and a spacious 52.7 cubic feet overall. Thanks to the fold-flat second row and passenger’s seat, you can easily accommodate long or inconvenient cargo.
  • Yaris: You are limited to only 15.3 cubic feet of space, and expanding that space becomes awkward due to second-row seats that do not fold flat.

Despite being comparably priced, the Honda Fit comes with a much more appealing list of standard features:

  • Fit: The base trim comes with automatic headlights and LED brake lights on the outside. The inside features cruise control, full-power accessories, and a rearview camera.
  • Yaris: The base trim limits you to standard exterior lighting, limited power accessories, no cruise control, and no rearview camera.
