Summer may be over, but many in the south are still traveling along I-20 and I-75 this fall. It is imperative to ensure that tire safety is at the forefront of your mind, where the road literally meets the rubber. We’ve put this guide together on the best tips to make sure your Honda tires are in the best shape possible for a road trip. While you can’t always prevent a flat tire, there are things you can do to ensure that it doesn’t happen. The last thing you want is to have a flat tire while you’ve got your kids in the car.

1. Be careful not to overthink it and not to overinflate it.

Your tires should be inflated to the tire pressure that is specified on the sticker attached to the inside of your Honda. This will ensure that the tires operate at the peak performance that was intended for the vehicle and tire combination.

It is important to check the tire pressure when the tires are cold and to make sure that the vehicle has not been driven for at least three hours before being examined. You can always buy an inexpensive tire pressure monitor at an auto store. Or for peace of mind, feel free to bring your Honda into our dealership near Dublin to have us inspect your tires.

2. The importance of Tire Rotation on your Honda

In order to achieve more uniform wear and to extend the life of your Honda tires, you should rotate them approximately every 5,000–8,000 miles your vehicle travels.

Before you rotate your tires, you should let our Honda dealership near Macon, check them for uneven wear. They will check for and correct any misalignment, imbalance, or other mechanical issues that may be present.

3. Why Alignment is important

A jolt from going over a curb or hitting a pothole can cause your front end to become misaligned and cause damage to your tires, which can lead to uneven and rapid treadwear.

If you feel a "pulling" sensation or vibration, or if you follow the instructions in the owner's manual for your vehicle, you should check the alignment on a regular basis.

4. Close valve caps in your Honda

Keep in mind that the valve caps should be securely closed and replace any caps that are missing without delay.

5. Resist the urge to overpack

In order to extend the life of your tires, you should avoid packing your vehicle to its maximum capacity. For information on the maximum load capacity of the vehicle, consult the owner's manual.
